EMOTE is trans-owned & operated queer art & secondhand shop established in 2021. We are open 12-6pm daily at 444 Haywood Road in Asheville, North Carolina. We moved from a previous location on 508 Haywood Rd in February 2024.


Our store is street level with no stairs necessary to enter. Both our bathroom and our front dressing room are wheelchair accessible. Dogs are welcome in the store. Masks are provided and encouraged (just ask us at the front desk). All trans-affirming items are sold on a sliding scale. We have two racks available to shoppers for NYOP and a $4 bin as well.


There is a free parking lot behind our building beside Early Girl Eatery. Park in spots marked for the Mardis Building. If no spots are available, there is free street parking along Haywood Road.


We buy art upfront & directly from queer artists year round. We accept art submissions THROUGH EMAIL ONLY at In your email, please include the following information: -Your name, pronouns, and where you are located, and anything else you would like us to know about you as an artist. -Photo examples of your work and/or a link to your website or social media account showcasing your art. A wholesale catalogue is helpful but not required! -Your wholesale v.s. retail pricing breakdown (the price you will sell it to us for v.s. the price you would ideally like it to be sold to our customers), as well as timeline (how long it will take for you to complete the order) and quantity available. Unfortunately, due to a high volume of emails, we cannot guarantee a timely response if we are NOT placing an order with you, though we will do our best to let you know when we've made our decision. Some items we regularly stock are: original clothing & accessories, prints, ceramics, leatherwear, stickers, magnets, pins, patches, zines, coloring books, stationery, etc.. We love anything that's gay, unusual, unique, and one-of-a-kind!


We book pop-ups and events with queer artists and organizers year round. We accept inquiries through EMAIL ONLY at Please include the following information: -Your name, pronouns, social media account, and anything else you feel we should know about you. -A general timeline of when you are looking to book your pop-up or event. Pop-ups are an opportunity to sell your art directly at our space. Pop-ups are held on Saturdays or Sundays. We do not charge a vending fee and we provide a table & chairs. Once your pop-up is booked, you will receive all necessary information on preparing for your event. Our space is available for other events that we have the physical capacity and necessary staffing available for. You are welcome to come to us with your idea and we will let you know the best way we can be supportive to you.


We accept your secondhand clothes every Thursday & Fridays unless otherwise specified on our Instagram or Event Calendar. Buying hours are from 12-5pm. First come first served. We buy vintage & modern namebrand clothing, shoes, and accessories (no jewelry) that are FRESHLY WASHED, in season, on trend, and in excellent condition. We do not accept items that are unwashed/dirty, have stains/wear/broken fasteners, or items that are out of season or not aligned with our store. WE DO NOT ACCEPT ANY FAST FASHION ITEMS. We offer 30% of our listing price in cash, and 50% of our listing price in store credit. CASH PAYMENTS ARE OFFERED THROUGH VENMO ONLY. Store credit can be redeemed as a same-day trade or as a gift card. We have a set "cash" budget each day. Once we've exhausted our budget, we will switch to store credit only. We will update our Instagram story when we are out of cash. You are also welcome to call us at (828) 318-2078 for budget inquiries.


We accept FRESHLY WASHED donations at any time during our regular store hours. Please call or DM us on Instagram ahead of time if your donation exceeds two large trash bags worth of items to ensure we have the capacity to accomodate.
